The 2004 Yamaha YFZ 450 comes from the factory with a rubber plug in the tachometer port on the top-front-right of the cylinder head.
This plug is prone to becoming dislodged in severe riding and racing conditions.
If the plug does become dislodged, oil will pour from the hole, potentially causing severe engine damage.
DRI offers an aluminum plug and seal as an aftermarket fix for this problem.
Unlike the stock rubber plug, the aluminum plug is held in place by the OEM bolt on the right hand side of the head. This keeps the plug from becoming dislodged and protects the engine from potential damage arising from the faulty stock rubber plug coming out.
NOTE: This problem has been corrected in the 2005 model YFZ 450.
